Langtang valley trek, located within Central Himalaya in between Ganesh and Jugal Himal ranges. Which forms a barrier between Nepal and Tibet / China and the closest accessible route from Kathmandu to enter Tibet. Langtang valley situated within the massive range of Langtang Himal consists of an array of peaks. Includes the main Langtang Lirung at 7,234 m / 23, 734 feet, Langtang-Ri At 7,205 m / 23, 638 feet. 

Extends to Dorje Lakpa 6,966 m / 22, 854 feet and Loenpo Gang 6,979 m / 22,897 feet. Continues further with Changbu 6,781 m / 22,247 feet and Yansa Tsenji 6,690 m / 21,950 feet. Kyanjin-Ri 6,601 m / 21, 657 feet, Dogpache 6,562 m / 21, 529 feet.The group of peaks includes Langshisa-Ri 6, 427 m / 21, 086 feet, Gangchenpo 6,387 m / 20, 955 feet. All the way to Morimoto 6,150 m / 20, 180 feet, Tsogaka 5,846 m / 19,180 feet. Including Yala Peak at 5,520 m / 18, 110 feet the most popular trekking peak, towards the south smaller mountain range.

The Langtang Valley Trek is one of the most exciting and culturally captivating treks in the Langtang region of Nepal. The trail leads you to the villages inhabited by Tamang and Bhotia. Along the path, you will see views of mountains like Gang Chhenpo, Langtang Lirung, Surya Peak, Yala Peak, and Sisal Pangma.

Gosainkund, Helambu Trek is also known as the Langtang region, The Langtang Valley Trek begins from the wonderful Syabrubesi and then heads to Lama Hotel and Langtang village which is one of the first attractions. Eventually, you will reach the highest elevation of 400 m at Kyangjin Ri or 5033m at Tserko Ri before heading back to Lama Hotel, Syabrubisi, and Kathmandu. 

The Routes to Langtang Valley:

Starts from Kathmandu city taking a drive towards Rasuwa district, where Langtang Himal is located, heading due north-west. Drive leads uphill to Dhunche at 1950 m, the headquarters town of the Rasuwa area, and the entrance of Langtang National Park. Drive continues downhill to Syabrubesi village where the trek to Langtang Valley begins, next day climb to Lama Hotel.

A small settlement amidst forest surrounding, from here the walk continues uphill to Langtang village, then reaching Langtang Valley. Where Kyanjin is situated on a scenic Langtang valley enclosed by an array of peaks on both sides of the valley.

Spending an extra day exploring its beautiful surroundings with a hike to its scenic viewpoint hills of Tserko-Ri and Kyanjin-Ri. After a wonderful time at Langtang valley and Kyanjin settlement, walk back to Syabrubesi with overnights at Lama Hotel. Next, early morning drive on the same route back to Kathmandu, after an enjoyable exciting experience on Langtang Valley Trek.

Health and physical needs Langtang Valley Trek:

The Langtang Valley Trek is a medium trek suitable for individuals, families, and groups with the ability to walk 6-7 hours a day with a light bag. Walking at high altitudes requires a lot of physical fitness but if you are in excellent health with a positive attitude and average physical fitness then you can do this hiking.

 Exercising and running regularly 2-3 months before the trek date is a good idea to increase your stamina. Past trekking experience is not mandatory though it is definitely useful. The cost of the Langtang trek includes three meals, accommodation, a permit card, a guide-porter fee, and a transportation fee. Accommodation and food during the Langtang Valley trek:

While staying in Kathmandu, three-star hotels or similar facilities are provided while the facility of a teahouse/lodge is provided during the trek. All accommodation is shared by twins and single rooms are provided at your request at additional costs. Single rooms are readily available in urban areas but are difficult at higher altitudes. Clean food is provided on trekking days. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be arranged on the trek.

The most common Nepali food is typical Nepali pulses, rice, and vegetables, but also common international food (Chinese, Italian, Continental, Indian, etc.). You will be provided with the best food available according to the menu. There will also be a welcome and farewell party on our behalf.

Equipment & Packing List for Langtang Valley Trekking:

The following list is a guideline to help you pack for your trekking. The weight limit for your luggage is 15 kg. Remember that your luggage will be carried by our porter. However, you are required to carry a small day-pack with your valuables or anything important in your hiking. We advise you to pack only what is necessary.

Important Items: Airline tickets; Valid passport; 2 extra passport size photos; Photocopy of your passport; Insurance paper; Dollars, Pounds, or Euros in cash for purchasing a Nepalese visa at Kathmandu airport, for paying at restaurants and hotels, for gratuities, snacks and to purchase your own drinks and gifts; Credit Card (Visa/ Master Card) for withdrawing cash from cash machines if needs.

For Head: Sun Hat; Bandana or head scarf; Headlamp with extra batteries; Sun Glasses with UV protection.

For Upper Body: Shirts (1 half sleeve and 2 long sleeves); Lightweight thermal tops; Fleece Jacket or Wool Sweater; Wind Cheater jacket; Down Jacket

For Lower Body: 1 pair of lightweight thermal bottoms; 1 pair of fleece or woolen trousers; 1 pair of waterproof shell pants and 1 pair of hiking trousers.

Day

1

The Langtang Valley Tour begins from Kathmandu valley so you will fly to Kathmandu. You will be picked up from the Tribhuvan International Airport and transferred to your respective hotel. You will be offered a warm welcome dinner with Nepali meals and drinks.

2

This is the day set aside for sightseeing and trek preparation. On this day, you will be briefed about the Langtang Valley Trek by the guide who will also offer tips on packing your bag with necessary clothing items. After breakfast, you can head out Sightseeing around Kathmandu valley.

The valley has a lot to offer from a spiritual, historical, authentic, and natural perspective. If you love ancient history, then you can visit Narayan Hiti Museum, and if you like artwork and culture, then you can visit the courtyards of Bhaktapur, Kathmandu, and Patan. You can also visit the temples of Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, or Swayambhunath if you like to be close to religion and spiritual self.

3

This is the day when you will be driving towards Syabrubesi which is the entrance to our Langtang Valley Trek. The drive is exhilarating since you will spot various green mountains, lush crop fields, rivers, and distant mountain ranges.

Syabrubesi is the entrance to many other treks in the Langtang Region. Upon reaching there, you will see a big bazaar and many lodges. Stay overnight at a lodge.

4

This day is the first of your trekking days for the Langtang Valley Trek. The trek for today is relatively easier than on other days. You will be heading towards the Lama Hotel through terraced farms and villages. You will be bestowed with views of Langtang Lirung and green forests.

5

This is one of the highlights of your Langtang valley trek since you will be entering the Langtang Village on this day. The well-reserved Langtang National park is home to a wide range of flora and fauna.

The Langtang village is a settlement in somewhat mid of the valley and opens up to Ghoretabla. You can experience the lifestyle of the Tamang and Bhotia communities living in the area. You can taste pure yak cheese, ghee, milk, and other milk products.

Day

6

On this day, you will be leaving Langtang village and heading towards Kyangjin RI or Tserko RI which is the highest elevation of the trek. You will need to take short steps since rushing uphill might get make you have altitude sickness.

Throughout the way, you will be offered close-up views of the Naya Kanga, Langshisha, Dorji Lakpa, and Langtang Lirung. You might hike towards Tserko RI which sits at an altitude of 5033m. Stay overnight at Lodge.

7

This day has been set aside for resting at Kyangjin RI to avoid falling victim to altitude sickness. You will have mesmerizing views of the Langtang range at a closer distance. You can hike around the nearby areas for better views and also for acclimatizing yourself. Stay overnight at a lodge.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner, Accommodation: Teahouse in Kyangjin, Distance: 3-4 Kilometers

8

On this day, you will take the path that leads toward the Lama Hotel. The path is the same that you have taken before. The views will eventually get imprinted in your mind as you head back to Lama Hotel. The Langtang range will be on full display in the backdrop as you walk past pine, and oak treelines.

9

On this day, you will be taking heading to Syabrubesi; the same place where you began the trek. As it marks the end of your stay n the Langtang region, you can enjoy yourself with your friends at night by enjoying some local meals and drinks.

10

This is the day when you will be leaving the Langtang region and heading towards Kathmandu Valley. The drive back home is relaxing as you will be offered exquisite views of green hills and the distant Himalayas. As you reach Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your respective hotels where you can relax.

In the evening, you can head out and excurse the area of Thamel to pick up souvenirs.  Enjoy a lovely farewell dinner with authentic Nepali cuisine.

11

On this day, you will be taking the homeward bound and bidding farewell to the beautiful country of Nepal. You will be dropped off at the Tribhuvan International Airport by our guide.

Langtang valley trek is not that tough or difficult, except for a few hours of steep climb and downhill. The grade of trekking is moderate with a slow rise in altitude, as long one takes a slow and steady pace with some rest in between the walk is enjoyable overlooking beautiful views of the dramatic scenery of rolling green hills and snow peaks.

Nearly all seasons of the year except the monsoon wet rainy time of July and August. The best time is spring time where days are clear and fine for views and pleasant walks, chances of rain sometimes in the afternoon. Cold morning and night time, around spring from March to May hills are lively with wild-flowers in seasonal bloom. The next season is autumn from September to November, days are crystal clear for enjoyable walks facing views of beautiful scenery. Cold morning and night time. For this short trek, one can visit in winter times also where most days are clear with chances of snow, much cold morning and late afternoon till night time.

The maximum altitude is 3, 810 m / 10,531 feet high at Kyanjin around Langtang valley, one can reach up above 4,300 m high on the rest day with a hike to Tserko Ri or on top Kyanjin-Ri for the best panorama of the surrounding mountain range and landscapes.

Depending upon from one village to another from simple budget to standard lodge, most lodge with a small nice and clean room with twin beds, the bath and toilets are a common, extra charge for hot bathe or shower. Some lodges high up at Kyanjin have good rooms facing views of snow mountains. Few lodges with attached bath on route trek. Foods are best in nearly all lodges with a comprehensive food menu from Nepali, Tibetan, and Chinese to continental as well Indian.

All treks in Nepal require trekking permits TIMS (Trekking Information Management Systems), which is to be obtained in Kathmandu, where your trekking agents will obtain for you. The other permit is the entrance of National Park, to be obtained at Dhunche town before entering the park premises.

Depending upon how sick is the person, for normal sickness having some medicine prescribed by your doctor, like minor wounds, fever, and headache. For serious person needs to be brought down to a safe area for treatment and rest.

If the person is very serious with high altitude or another sickness, needs to be evacuated by the fastest transport or using helicopter services to bring the sick to Kathmandu hospital. The expenses should be covered by travel and medical insurance.
