Tamang Heritage Trail Trek, is quite different from other adventures around Nepal Himalaya, as this short trip is more of an exploration than a normal trek. Visiting from one interesting village to another of equally impressive to observe ancient heritage customs as they were thousands of years back.

The Tamang indigenous hill tribes of Central and Mid-Eastern Himalayas migrated from southern Mongolia and Tibet. Famously known for their immense colorful and lively culture and skill in craftsmanship and art-works, which you will witness around every village and monastery.

Apart from ancient heritage farm life and raising livestock, the country scenery is added more charm to these lovely walks. Facing stunning views of dramatic landscapes of hills, valleys, and rivers with ever-present views of the snow-capped mountain range. A walk into the cool shade of forest-lined with tall rhododendron, magnolia, oaks, and pine trees makes the country picturesque.

The Tamang people 4th largest populated tribe of Nepal, the word Ta means Horse, and Mang as traders or horsemen. In the early days were horse soldiers and cavalry of Mongolian and Tibetan Emperors and at present a farmer and cattle herders. But still retains its ancient glory of arts and craftsmanship interwoven with Buddhist and old Bon religions.

Tamang Heritage Trail Accommodation and Permissions:

The Tamang Heritage Trail is on the border of Langtang National Park but you don't need any permission. However, a checkpoint in Dhunce may require you to pay a national park entry fee. Although the Tamang Heritage Trail was affected by the 2015 earthquake, it has now been completely rebuilt. Homestays and teahouses provide accommodation and food in each community, and be sure to check out the view over the snake plate !!
