Kathmandu Valley Rim Hill Hiking, one of the short picturesque country walks starts with an hour's drive from Kathmandu city. Heading towards North East of the valley rim at Sundarijal, a beautiful place with waterfalls and fresh running streams. Starts uphill past many farm villages and into a nice cool forest to reach the high scenic ridge at Chisapani. 

Chisapani is a small village, with many good lodges to stay overnights, located North of Kathmandu valley on route to Langtang-Gosainkund and Helambu region. This high village offers stunning eye-catching sunrise and sunsets over a superb Himalayan range, with views of Manaslu, Ganesh, Langtang, and the Jugal Himal range. Extends towards Everest towards the far-east direction, spending a pleasant overnight stop, next morning walk continues following a ridge line.

Walk into a beautiful forest of tall rhododendron, magnolia, oaks, pines, and fir trees, and through hill villages to reach the famous Nagarkot.

Nagarkot, a popular hill station for city folks of Kathmandu valley and foreign visitors, is perched on a high hill. This wonderful scenic location is famous for sunrise and sunset as well as Himalayan mountain views in the comfort of lovely lodges and resorts. Enjoying a lovely stay in Nagarkot, with fabulous scenery vista of the high snow-mountain range, the walk continues further east to Dhulikhel. The last day of hiking offers unparalleled views of the Himalayas range all the way to the old Newar town of Dhulikhel.

Another famous hill town located on the highway between Kathmandu and Lhasa / Tibet is a charming place for views of the Himalayan Mountain range. At Dhulikhel enjoy the last night of the wonderful hiking, where the next morning catches a gorgeous panorama of the Himalayas.

Where short drive takes you to the beautiful holy spot of Namobuddha, located in a serene tranquil environment. After an interesting tour of the Buddhist holy place, a scenic short drive brings you to Kathmandu, where our marvelous Kathmandu Valley Rim Hill Hiking completes.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival at Kathmandu via respective airlines and transfer to hotel:

On arrival in Kathmandu and Nepal International Airport via various international airlines, our guide and staff received a short transfer to the heart of Kathmandu city.

Your hotel is located after checking into your rooms and then meeting other members of the trip at the hotel lobby for briefing.

The briefing includes important information regarding  Kathmandu Valley Rim Hill Hiking, to make your holiday in Nepal more enjoyable.

The evening group welcomes dinner in a lovely Nepalese Restaurant with an introduction to the culture of Nepal with folk dance and music.

Day 2 : In Kathmandu free day for a sightseeing tour at places of interest:

A free day in Kathmandu preparation for the trek includes a sightseeing tour around Kathmandu valley at places of great historical and religious interest. 

The city is steeped with ancient world heritage sites, where the tour takes you around renowned landmarks, like the old Durbar / Palace Square with old Swayambhunath of more than 2,500 years old Stupa, a Buddhist religious monument. 

Includes the holy Hindu temple of Pashupatinath and the large dome stupa of Bouddhanath of great cultural and religious interest.

Day 3 : Drive to Sundarijal 1, 380 m and hike to Chisapani 2,215 m, -05 hrs:

An early morning start after breakfast for a short drive of less than an hour to reach a farm town in Sundarijal. Which is a 15 k.m distance from Kathmandu city. Where drive leads through the famous Bouddhanath Stupa area, and then reaches the outskirt of Kathmandu to reach Sundarijal. 

From this nice rural town start our hike with a climb into a nice cool forest with waterfalls to enter Shivapuri National Park.

After a brief stop, hike uphill past nice farm villages and into a dense forest of rhododendron, pines, and oaks then reach our overnight destination at Chisapani a small village with a few nice lodges to stay in. 

Chisapani stands high north of Kathmandu valley at 2, 215 meters overlooking grand views of snow-capped peaks of Annapurna-Manaslu-Ganesh Himal and Lang tang Himal, extending towards Jugal Himal with views of Kathmandu valley.

Day 4 : Hike to Nagarkot 2,190 m, -06 hrs:

Wake up early to enjoy stunning sunrise reflecting over an array of Himalayan peaks after breakfast starts hiking to Nagarkot. On walks, magnificent views of majestic Himalayas follow you, as the hike leads to a high ridge with a few ups and downhill covered with dense tree lines, and then walk downhill to a nice farm village of Chowki-Bhanjyang and JarsingPawa.

From here on the scenic winding trail with thin pine forest with last hour climb to the famous Nagarkot hill town for an overnight stop.

Nagarkot stands from 2,100 to 2,190 meters high a famous spot for glorious sunrise and sunset views that reflects on high snow mountains as far as Mt. Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang-Jugal Himal, and Mt. Gaurishankar, extending towards Everest in the far-east horizon.

Enjoy a pleasant overnight in nice lodges, hotels, and resorts where rooms and terraces face excellent views of rolling green hills and snow-clad peaks.

Day 5 : Hike to Dhulikhel 1, 550 m, -06 hrs:

Another grand opportunity to catch striking sunrise from the hotel terrace is to get the best view of a short walk to the high observation tower.

After an impressive morning view of sunrise over a Himalayan mountain range, and having a hearty breakfast, start the last day hike within the lovely forest and into farmlands of vast terraces facing scenic landscapes and of snow-capped peaks.

A walk takes you ups and downhill then finally ending the day at Dhulikhel town where you can have a pleasant stay in one of its nice hotels or resorts, offering a panorama of the great Himalayan Mountain range.

Enjoy the late afternoon by taking a short walk around Dhulikhel town, with 500 years old history of this heritage Newar town, where you can witness the local traditional culture and impressive customs.

Day 6 : Morning visit Namobuddha, drive back to Kathmandu:

A great morning to enjoy another gorgeous sunrise view over Himalayan peaks, after a nice breakfast, a short drive to holy Namobuddha an important pilgrimage site for Buddhist followers, situated near south Dhulikhel surrounded by a tranquil environment.

This sacred place with interesting past legends and history where the supreme future Buddha sacrificed his body to feed the hungry tigress and her cubs.

The visit takes you around its important site of monuments and stupas, and visit the Gompa/monastery. After a great wonderful morning tour then drives back to Kathmandu, where our wonderful experience on Kathmandu Valley Rim Hill Hiking concludes.

Day 7 : Departure Day for International flight homeward bound:

Your last day in Nepal, enjoying a memorable adventure and experience on Kathmandu Valley Rim Hill Hiking, then time for your international flight. Our staff transfers you to the airport for homeward bound.
