A relatively new trek compared to most other treks around Annapurna, Mohare Danda Trek for families is undertaken by a handful of tourists. Hence, making it a perfect destination for those looking for solitude. The 10-day Mohare Danda Trek with Children begins upon your arrival in Kathmandu.

The trip moves from Kathmandu to Pokhara and then to Galeshwor village. You’ll gradually trek through the forested trail past the Magar villages of Banskharka, Nangi, and Mohare Danda (3320m). You can catch the amazing sights of the nearby mountains including Annapurna South (7219m), Dhaulagiri (8167m), Nilgiri (7061m), and Hiunchuli (6441m) from the location.

The lodging throughout the trail will be accommodated inside the community village with the facility of the homestay. Afterward, you’ll retrace your and descend through Khibang, Tilkot, and Tiplyang villages en route to Pokhara.

A morning hike to the World peace Pagoda offers mesmerizing views of the Himalayas in the Annapurna ranges along with Mt. Machhapuchhre (6997m). From Pokhara, you fly over the snow-clad Himalayas to arrive at Kathmandu. The trip concedes upon your return to Kathmandu. Mohare Danda Trek suits all kinds of trekkers including adults traveling with children. The beautiful and peaceful setting and easy trail offer a great time for the family to travel together.

The perfect time to visit Mohare Danda remains during the months of March to May and September to November. You can choose to undertake the trek during winter as well if you can beat the chill. Food and accommodation on the Mohare Danda Trek:

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, we will escort our visitors to 5-star, 3-star, and local-star hotels in Kathmandu and Pokhara as per their desire and preference. The trek starts from Glashore and there are no star hotels available. But there are many tea houses and local homestays where visitors can stay in the atmosphere of local homestay houses and enjoy local food.

Health and physical requirements for the Mohare Danda trek:

Mohare Danda Trekking is moderately easy and visitors can easily reach their destination on time. Since you have to walk at least 6 to 7 hours a day, the level of physical fitness and endurance required is average. before trip 2, 3 months you can do physical fitness, swimming, gym, running.

Transportations for Mohare Dada Trek:

Upon arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, the company representative greets you and takes you to the hotel. Pedestrians can drive or fly to Pokhara in 25 minutes and reach Galeshwor in about 4 hours. If the time of the passengers is short, they can reach Pokhara by flight; Otherwise, driving is preferred. 

What is the best time to hike Mohare Danda?

You can do this trek at any time of the year. However, we recommend March to May or September to November. At any given time, it is either too hot or too cold. Therefore, autumn and spring are the best seasons for hiking. However, the weather in Moharedanda may change unexpectedly. We will take care of all your food and shelter and ensure that you complete this hike comfortably. Additionally, we provide an experienced guide who will accompany you on the Mohra Danda trek.

Equipment & Packing List for Community Homestay Trek:

This list outlines the required things to bring during the community Homestay Trek. The weight limit for your luggage is 15 kg. Remember that your luggage will be carried by our porter. However, you are required to carry a small day-pack with your valuables or anything important. We advise you to pack only what is necessary.

Important Items: Airline tickets; Valid passport; 2 extra passport size photos; Photocopy of your passport; Insurance paper; Dollars, Pounds, or Euros in cash for purchasing a Nepalese visa at Kathmandu airport, for paying at restaurants and hotels, for gratuities, snacks and to purchase your own drinks and gifts; Credit Card (Visa/ Master Card) for withdrawing cash from cash machines if needs.

For Head: Sun Hat; Bandana or head scarf; Headlamp with extra batteries; Sun Glasses with UV protection.

For Upper Body: Shirts (1 half sleeve and 2 long sleeves); Lightweight thermal tops; Fleece Jacket or Wool Sweater; Wind Cheater jacket; Down Jacket

For Lower Body: 1 pair of lightweight thermal bottoms; 1 pair of fleece or woolen trousers; 1 pair of waterproof shell pants and 1 pair of hiking trousers.

For Hands: 1 pair of lightweight wool or fleece gloves and 1 pair of lightweight poly liner gloves.

For Feet: 2 pairs of thin inner socks; 2 pairs of poly or wool socks; 1 pair of Hiking boots (sturdy soles, water-resistant, ankle support); 1 pair of running shoes and/or sandals.

Other Useful Items: 1 sleeping bag (good to -20 degrees C or 28 degrees F); Rucksack and Travel Bags; 1 large duffel bag *; A small daypack/backpack for carrying your valuables; Small padlocks for duffel- bags; 2 large waterproof rucksack covers (optional).

Medical: Your daily taking medicine if any; small personal first aid kit; Aspirin, plasters (band-aids); Sunscreen; lip balms; Anti-diarrhea pills; Anti-headache pills; A cough and/or cold medicine; Anti-altitude sickness pills: Diamox or Acetazolamide; Stomach antibiotic: Ciprofloxacin.

Digital camera; 2 water bottles (1 liter each); disposable rubbish sacks; Toiletries: 1 medium-sized quick-drying towel; Toothbrush/paste; Multi-purpose soap; Deodorants; Nail clippers; Face and body moisturizer; Tissue /toilet roll; hiking poles, snack food (chocolate/ biscuits); umbrella; reading book or pack of cards (for leisure time during trekking).

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival in Kathmandu 1300m:

Upon your arrival, our representative will warmly receive you at the airport and escort you to our hotel located at the heart of Kathmandu City. You will meet your trek guide at the hotel and discuss the trip in detail. In the evening, you can choose to take a stroll around the city to purchase trek gear, equipment, or any accessories.

Day 2 : Full day Guided Sightseeing Tour in Kathmandu Valley by private van:

Today our experienced guide takes you around Kathmandu valley for a sightseeing tour in a private van. The tour includes a visit to some of the UNESCO enlisted world’s heritage sites in Kathmandu. Starting with Swayambhunath Temple, you go on to visit Pashupatinath Temple, from where you proceed towards Boudhanath Stupa. You can try local delicacies by taking the recommendation from the local guide.

Day 3 : Fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara 820m/25minutes and drive from Pokhara to Galeshwor, 1170m/2 hrs and trek to Banskharka 1526m/2-3 hours:

After early breakfast at the hotel, you’ll drive to the airport and embark on a scenic flight to the touristic city of Pokhara. Lying almost 200km west of Kathmandu, it may take almost 25-30min to reach Pokhara. Once at Pokhara, you’ll drive northwest to the village of Galeshwor.

The three and half hour drive to Galeshwor goes along the bank of Kali Gandaki River. After a brief lunch, you’ll start the trek and hike for three hours en route to Banskharka. 

Meals: Breakfast at Kathmandu Hotel, Accommodation: at home-stay in Banskharka, Distance:( 200 Kilometers Kathmandu- Pokhara, flight 25 min), Pokhara-Beni-Galeshwor Banskharka 98.6 kilometers.

Day 4 : Trek from Banskharka to Nangi 2320m/5-6 hours:

The trek gradually ascends through the lushly forested trail leading from Banskharka. The day starts with a hearty meal at your homestay and head north to Nangi. The 5-6 hour long trek leads from Banskharka and passes along small, beautiful villages offering stunning views of the nearby mountains and impressive landscapes. You can also visit the organic farm school located in a Magar village.

Day 5 : Trek from Nangi to Mohare Hill 3320m/4-5 hours:

The trek materializes at the dainty peak of Mohare Hill. Leaving Nangi, the trail goes through the beautiful forests of Oak and Rhododendrons along with the magnificent views of Machhapuchhre (6997m), Annapurna South (7219m), Tukuche (6920m), and Nilgiri (7061m).

More is a small hill station that offers a panoramic view of the surrounding. In the late noon, you can observe the glorious sunset view from Mohare before resting at an eco-community lodge in Mohare Hill.

Day 6 : Trek from Mohare Danda to Khibang 2060m/5-6 hours:

After enjoying a beautiful sunrise view at Mohare Danda, you’ll head down to the nearby village of Khibang. Khibang is a small Eco-Community known for its community forests and homestay.

A 5-6 hr trek will take you through the Oak and Rhododendron forests to Khibang. You can choose to visit the community forest and organic farm along the way.

Day 7 : Trek from Khibang to Tikot 2210m/3-4 hours:

Leaving Khibang behind, you’ll retrace your path and head downhill. Today, you’ll make your way to Tikot village, a small Magar settlement. A short trek will be filled with a lovely time in nature.

You’ll enjoy your lunch and dinner at one of the community lodges along with an overnight stay. Located at 2210m, Tikot remains one of the most beautiful Magar villages in Nepal.

Day 8 : Trek from Tikot to Tiplyang 1040m/3 hours and drive to Pokhara:

Leaving Tilkot, you’ll head further down to Tiplyang village. Tiplyang will be the last village en route to Pokhara. A small village nestled to the southwest of the Annapurna massif and the bank of the Kali Gandaki River, the village is less frequently visited by tourists. Once at Tiplyang, you’ll catch a jeep back to Pokhara.

Day 9 : Morning Hike to World Peace Stupa and afternoon drive back to Kathmandu /7 hours:

After breakfast, you can head out to explore Pokhara. You’ll make an early morning hike to the World Peace Stupa located atop a hill beside Phewa Lake.

A fairly moderate hike will take you all the way to the top from where you can enjoy the aerial view of the entire Pokhara city. Upon return, you’ll head to Kathmandu.

Day 10 : Final Departure from Kathmandu:

Today, we’ll drop you off at Tribhuvan International Airport so you can catch your scheduled flight back home. Our representative will take you to the airport and help you with any formalities, if necessary. You can share your trip experience or your next adventure with us.
