Often known as one of the best treks in Nepal, Manaslu Circuit trek takes you to the land of Gorkha in the Manang-Gandaki Zone and offers you the view of the eighth highest mountain in the world, Manaslu at 8163 m. Also known as the Mountain of Spirit, Manaslu lies peacefully in the untrampled trails of Gorkha. The Manaslu circuit is known best for the awestricken natural beauty surrounding the Manaslu region. The rich culture of the diverse ethnic tribes of Nepal and Tibet residing in the wanderlust of the Manaslu region under majestic mountains Manaslu, Cheo, Himlung, Nemjung, Gyanji Kang, Kang Giri, and Annapurna II, will keep you astonished throughout the trek. 
Even the abundance of flora and fauna like Thar, Blue Sheep, Pika, Himalayan Marmots, and luckily enough Snow Leopard will have you excited to the tips of your toes. To add further adventure to the unravelled Manaslu Circuit is the Larke LA Pass at an elevation of 5167m which stands as the highest point of the trek. 
The Manaslu Circuit Trek begins from Sotikhola and heads towards Jagat through Macha Khola. Eventually, you Deng, Nemrung, Sama Gaon, Lho Village, and Samdo which show you the real culture of the Nepalese and Tibetian people. From Dharmashala, you lead to Bhimtang through the Larke La Pass and then Gho Dharapani, Besi Sahar and end the trip at Kathmandu.

Day 1
Drive to Sotikhola from Kathmandu (700m)

The Manaslu Circuit trek begins with a scenic drive from the city of Kathmandu to Sotikhola. You can either take a private jeep which will take around 6-7 hours, or you can take a public bus which will take about 9-10 hours. You will stop for lunch on the highway and head towards Dhading Besi. The road to Sotikhola is bumpy and dusty, but the mesmerizing views of Langtang range, Ganesh Himal from a distance will cover up for the ride. 

Day 2
Trek to Machha Khola (869m)

On this day you will begin the Trek to Manaslu Circuit begins. You will take a 4 to 5-hour long walk to Machha Khola and cross three suspension bridges while following the Budi Gandaki river. You can also take a bath in the river bank to feel fresh. Throughout the day you will spot Ganesh Himal in the backdrop at north and east. 

Day 3
Trek to Jagat from Machha Khola (1340m)

This day, you will take a 6 to 7-hour walk to reach Jagat from Machha Khola. After having your lunch in Dovan you can enjoy the natural hot springs in Tatopani. The path will then cross six suspension bridges and a cantilever bridge until you reach Lower Jagat. It is the entry point of the Manaslu Conservation Area where you have to show a permit. 

Day 4
Trek to Deng from Jagat (1860m)

After breakfast, you will head on for a  6-7 hour walk from Jagat to Deng, having your lunch at Chisapani. You will then cross Philim, which is a village inhabited by the Gurung community and take a special permit at the check-post there. After crossing six suspension bridges on the way, you will also spot small Chortens, and enter a forest with rhododendron and bamboo planted everywhere. Deng, a lovely village has around three tea houses. Ganesh Himal and Sringi Himal are visible throughout the day. 

Day 5
Trek to Namrung from Deng (2630m)

Reaching Namrung from Deng takes around 6 to 7 hours. Along the way, you will pass lush pine forest and be blessed with the fantastic views of Sringi Himal, Lopchan Himal, Rani Peak, and Syaula Himal. You will be crossing seven suspension bridges to reach Namrung after having lunch at Ghap. If you are not tired enough, then you can visit the famous Namla Gompa. Namrung is a developed area in the Manaslu region; so you will find tea houses and even a resort. 

Day 6
Trek to Sama Gaon from Namrung via Lho Village (3500 m)

On this day, you will begin your trek from Namrung crossing Lho village to reach Sama Gaon which will take about 6  to 7 hours. Lho village is situated at an elevation of 3100m where the views of the Nike peak, Himalchuli, North are amazing.  You will then get the up close and panoramic views as you reach Shyala at an elevation of 3520m. While there, you should visit the Ribung Gompa since it is a famous tourist attraction. You will then cross six suspension bridges to Sama and stay at a tea house for the night. 

Day 7
Rest day and Side trip in Samagaon

On this day you will stay at Sama to take rest and visit the nearby areas.  You can either go to the Manaslu Base Camp which is at an elevation of 4800m or can visit the Pung Gyen Ghompa at 4200m. Both the treks will be long, but you can make it to the Birendra Lake in an hour from Sama no matter which hikes you want to take. Going to the base camp takes around 8 to 9 hours while Pung Gyen takes 4 to 5 hours. Stay overnight at Samagaon for lunch. 

Day 8
Trek to Samdo village from Sama (3875m)

On this day you will take a gentle walk on flat terrain for almost 3 hours to reach Samdo village. The mesmerizing views of Manaslu north, Nike peak, and Samdo peak are incredibly overwhelming. On the way, you will cross two wooden bridges where you may spot mountain goats and yaks grazing on the field. You can stay in the nearby tea houses in Samdo. 

Day 9
Trek to Dharmashala from Samdo (4460m)

On this day you will head from Samdo to Dharmasala. Dharmashala is the highest point of the trek where you will be sleeping at 4460m. After crossing the suspension bridge, you will spot two different routes to reaching Dharmashala. You can either take the path that passes from the Tibetian border from Larkey bazar or takes the one which is mentioned here. The availability of tea houses becomes thin, and there aren't many rooms, which means that you will have to do some sharing. On the way, you will spot Mountain Goats, Marmot, and some yaks grazing peacefully in the field.  Dharmashala is the starting point of Budigandaki river. 

Day 10
Trek to Bhimtang from Dharmasala (3700m) via LArke LA Pass (5106m)

You will be crossing the Larke pass on this day, which is why the trek is challenging. It is a 10 hours hike from Dharmasala to Bhimtang. You will have to wake up early before dawn to reach Larke la pass since the winds are dominant at the pass on the day time. Throughout the way, you will not find a single tea house or stop, so be mindful of carrying some dry food and water. The hike towards Larke La from Dharmasala takes around 4 to 5 hours, but the majestic views of Peri Himal, Larkey peak, Choyo, Himlung, Ratnachuli, Annapurna II peaks make up for all the hard work and effort. Then after, you will have to trek to Bhimtang from Larke. On the way, you will see the beautiful glacial lake Ponkar Tal 

Day 11
Trek to Gho from Bhimtang (2500m)

After breakfast, you will head on to Gho, taking about 5 to 6 hours. After lunch at Surki Khola, you will walk amidst the forest of rhododendron and pine. The views of Lamjung Himal and Putang Himal will follow you all along the way. Follow the Dudh Koshi river on the road and cross one suspension bridge and two wooden bridges to reach the tea houses in Gho for the night. 

Day 12
Trek from Dharapani (1900m) and drive to Besisahar (1300m)

On this day you will take a short trek to Dharapani from Gho. From Dharapani you will be heading towards Besisahar which will take two to three hours along a bumpy road. If you have the time and the energy, then you can also visit the Chamche waterfall and Syange waterfall which are equally mesmerizing. On the way, there are check-posts to show the permit. Upon reaching besisahar, which is the headquarter of Lamjung district, you will see a line of Lodges and hotels throughout the way. You can even stay in the homestays if you want to have a real experience of the lifestyle of the ethnic people living there. 

Day 13
Drive back to Kathmandu from Besisahar (1300m)

The drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar which take anywhere from 6 to 7 hours drive. After lunch on the highway, you will revert to Kathmandu. You can even plan for your next tour in Nepal after the excellent Manaslu Circuit Trek.
