Everest Three Pass trekking wonders off to the mesmerizing geography, culture, heritage, and traditions of the cold yet beautiful Khumbu Region in Nepal. The trek offers an entrance to the protected Sagarmatha National Park and leads to the Everest Base Camp. The highlight of the entire Everest Three pass trek as per the name are the three passes namely Kongmo –La pass at 5535 m, Cho-la Pass at 5367 m, and Renjo-la pass at 5360 m, that is crossed through the trail. Everest Three Pass trek brings you up-close to the highest peaks in the world like Mt. Everest, Amadablam, Thamserku, Kangtenga, Kwangde, Khumbi-la, Lobuche, Mt. Pumori, and more.
The Everest Three Pass trek begins from the wonderful Lukla and heads towards Namche, Thyangboche, and Dingboche to reach the first Kongmo-la pass. Eventually, it takes you through Gorakshep, Everest Base Camp and then to the Cho-la pass. After that, it leads to Gokyo to Reach Renjo-la pass which is the third pass. The trail then descends and heads back to Namche and then Lukla.
Aside from the views of the Mountains, Everest Base Camp and the three passes, the other attractions of the trek are the panoramic views of Gokyo Ri, the 360-degree views of mountain ranges from Kalapatthar, and the various traditions and cultures interwoven in the traditional lifestyle of the Sherpa community.

Day 16: Gokyo to Renjo-la (5360 m) and descend to Marlung (4210 m) - 07 hours
Day 17: Trek from Marlung to Namche (3440 m) - 06 hours
Day 18: Trek to Phakding (2652 m) - 05 hours
Day 19: Trek to Lukla (2800 m)- 04 hours
Day 20: Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to respective hotels:

Arrival at Kathmandu and transfer to hotel
We will welcome you at the Tribhuvan International Airport upon your arrival for the Everest Three Pass trek. Then, you will be transferred to your respective hotel based in Thamel which is the hub of Kathmandu. The guide/leader of the trek will brief you about the trek to the Khumbu Three Passes after refreshment. You will be served a warm welcome Nepali dinner and can also enjoy the folk cultural program.
Preparation and Sightseeing at Kathmandu
You will begin preparing for the trek after breakfast. The guide will help you in setting the checklist for the backpack and the necessary tools to be taken. After having lunch, you can head for sightseeing around the World Heritage sites inside the Kathmandu Valley. If you are an admirer of ancient history and arts, then you can visit the Narayan Hiti Museum, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square or Kathmandu Durbar square. If you want to have a soul seeking and pilgrim visit, then you can go to the Pashupatinath temple, Swayambhunath or Boudhanath.
Fly to Lukla (2830 m) and trek to Phakding (2640 m) - 04 hours
After having breakfast, you will be taken on a domestic flight to Lukla. The 45-minute flight is a memorable and mesmerizing one since you will see the landscape change below you and the weather change as you head out. From Lukla, the trail then leads towards Pakding after a downhill walk. Phakding located alongside the Dudh Koshi River is a small Sherpa village with friendly people. Stay overnight at camp in Phakding.
Trek towards Namche Bazaar (3440 m) - 05 hours
After having breakfast, you can begin the trek towards Namche Bazaar. The path takes you through amazing alpine woodland of pines and rhododendron trees with views of snow-capped peaks. After crossing some bridges, you will pass Monjo which is the gateway to the Sagarmatha National Park. You proceed uphill to reach Namche Bazaar which is visible from a far distance due to the settlement there. Namche has numerous shops and lodges with basic modern facilities like ATMs, Cyber Cafes, Resturants, and more. Namche is the central hub to most of the treks in the Khumbu region along with the Everest Three pass trek.
Acclimatization at Namche Bazaar
Due to a sudden change in the altitude, you will take this day to acclimatize at Namche. This is vital to prevent falling victim to Altitude Sickness. You will see views of the mesmerizing mountains like Thamserku, Khumbu-la, Mt. Everest, and more after a short hike uphill. On this day you can also try the local cuisine and drinks and intermingle with the Sherpa community living there. Stay overnight at camp.
Trek to Tyangboche (3867 m) - 05 hours
After breakfast, you will head to the lovely Tyangboche which is a 5-hour walk from Namche. Along the way, you will see forests of rhododendron and pine trees and the fabulous views of Amadablam peeking from treelines. Time and on, throughout the trail, you will see views of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Thamserku, and Kwangde peaks. The trail then eventually descends to Imjatse River and then Tenga. Tenga is a small place with a few tea shops where you can take some rest. After walking through a line of alpine trees you will reach the beautiful Thyangboche Monastery which is home o the high priest, Rinpoche. You can take blessings from the head lama for a successful and blessed tour. Stay overnight at camp.
Trek to Dingboche (4260 m) - 05 hours
On this day, you will take the trail that leads to Dingboche. The trail will take you downhill through a line of rhododendron and pine forest to cross over an Imja Khola. Eventually, the path reaches the Pangboche village which is a permanent settlement before the Everest Base Camp. You will then enter an exposed area that opens up to a beautiful and up-close view of Amadablam at very close proximity. You will stay overnight at camp.
Acclimatize at Dingboche:
On this day you will rest at Dingboche to acclimatize with your body against the sudden altitude change. It is regarded an excellent opportunity to visit the nearby monuments and areas around Dingboche. You can hike uphill to get the panoramic views of some of the highest mountain range. You will come close to the Northern face of Amadablam, Nuptse, Lhotse, Mt. Makalu and Imjatse peaks. Stay overnight at camp.
Trekking to Chhukung (4750 m) - 04 hours
After having breakfast, you will hike from Dingboche and head towards Chhukung. On the east, there is a settlement from where you will reach the rim of the Imjatse valley. From this point, you will see total stunning views of Mt. Makalu in the east, which is the highlight of the trek. You can either choose to stay at Chukkung or can further hike up to Chukkung Ri for more mesmerizing and scenic views.
Towards Kongmo - la (5535 m) and then to Lobuche (4928 m) - 08 hours
Early in the morning even before dawn, you will head towards Kongmo-la which is the first pass of the trek. This is considered a challenging day for many since the path is very icy and rocky. Although, you will get to see the views of Kongma peak. The Kongmo-la pass at an elevation of 5535 m offers views of the Nuptse wall, Mehara, and Pokalda peaks. After a challenging climb, you will reach the Khumbu glacier. You will take a short steep climb to the terminal debris of the glacier and then reach Lobuche. At lobuche you will stay at a lodge for the night.
Trek to Gorakhshep (5160 m) and visit Everest base camp (5320 m) 5 hours
On this day, you will begin the hike to Gorakhshep. The walk although considered relatively secure, may cause slight difficulty in altitude sickness. Along the way, you will be welcomed with panoramic views of the mountain range of Pumori, Khumbutse, Lingtrin, and Everest. On the way to Gorakhshep, you will walk through icy trail. It is the last place with lodge facilities before entering the Everest Base Camp. After reaching Gorkahshep, you will move on closer the base camp. You will walk over moraine overlooking the Khumbu Icefall. From Everest Base Camp you see staggering mountain range surrounding you. You can then head back to Gorak shep to rest for the day.
Hike to Kalapatthar (5545 m) and walk to Dzongla (4830 m) - 06 hours
After eating breakfast, you will hike towards Kalapatthar which is the viewpoint in the Khumbu region. It is the highest point of the entire trek. You will reach a black rocky ridge after a 2-hour climb uphill from where panoramic views of the highest peaks are seen. After the refreshment, you will head downhill to reach Cho La pass in Dzongla which is a Sherpa settlement. You can stay in the teahouses and lodges which offers fantastic views of Taboche and Cholatse peaks. Stay overnight at camp.
Dzongla to Cho-la pass (5367 m) walk down to Thanknak (4750 m) - 07 hours
In this day, you will head towards Cho La Pass which is the second pass in the Everest Three Pass trek. Early in the morning before dawn, you will take an ascend and cross the glacier on the eastern side. Cho la pass is known to be one of the most challenging hikes upwards at an altitude of 5367 m. The views of Cholatse glacier are exceptionally beautiful. You will take a sharp descend to Thanknak. Thaknak is at a close distance to Gokyo Lake. Stay overnight at Thanknak.
Trek to Gokyo (4750 m) climb to Gokyo Ri (5357 m) - 06 hours :
After having breakfast, you will head towards Gokyo which is only a few hours walk. You will take the trail passing through a small hamlet at the foot of Ngozumba glacier. The mesmerizing Emerald Gokyo lake offers the reflection of the mountains surrounding it. From Gokyo you can move towards Gokyo Ri for more amazing views of peaks like Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Taweche, Cholatse, Mt. Cho Oyo, and more. After reaching Gokyo Ri at 5357m, you will walk back to Gokyo and stay overnight.
At Gokyo rests and visiting fifth lake - 05 hours
On this day, you will take rest at Gokyo not just for acclimatizing but also for excursing around the area. Also, after the long hours of continuous walk in the previous days, your body certainly needs rest. You can then head towards the base of Cho Oyo which is the 6th highest mountain in the world. You can observe a little difference in the Nepal Tibet border. From there, the views of the towering Changtse, and Mt. Everest can be seen. You will take the same route to head back to Gokyo after walking towards the fifth lake.
Gokyo to Renjo-la (5360 m) and descend to Marlung (4210 m) - 07 hours
Considered as one of the most challenging days of the trek, on this day you will head towards Renjo –La which is the third pass in the Everest three Pass. Even before Dawn, you will head towards Renjo La. Throughout the path, you will be offered with mesmerizing views of Mt. Everest, Taboche, and Cholatse. En route to MArlung, you will pass the Renjo La pass. After the breathtaking views of Cho-Oyu you will then visit the frozen pond beneath Renjo La pass. After reaching the settlement at Lungdeng near the Nangpa-La Pass and then head towards Marlung village which is near Bhote Koshi River.
Trek from Marlung to Namche (3440 m) - 06 hours
The trek will begin from Marlung to Namche which is a more natural trail. On the way, we will visit the Thyangboche and Hungmo villages. Along the way, you will walk through the scattered Sherpard’s huts and yaks are grazing along. After an uphill haul, you will reach the hydropower plant at Namche. Stay overnight at Namche.
Trek to Phakding (2652 m) - 05 hours
After breakfast, you will walk towards Phakding. You will head towards Monjo which is the exit to Sagarmatha National Park. After heading downhill to Dudh Koshi, you will cross the longest bridge in the area and finally reach Phakding. Stay overnight at Phakding.
Trek to Lukla (2800 m)- 04 hours
On this day, you will head towards Lukla. You will follow the same trail towards Lukla. On the way, you can enjoy the magnificent scenery. Take a short climb and reach Lukla. You can take rest and enjoy some local food and drinks.
Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to respective hotels:
Today you will be bidding farewell to the Khumbu region. You will take a 35-minute flight towards Kathmandu from Lukla. The trip is one of the most memorable and scenic. After reaching Kathmandu, you can take rest at your hotel. In the evening you can go for souvenir shopping at Thamel and can even enjoy the local pubs and restaurants.
International departure :
This is the day when you will bid farewell to wonderful Nepal. You will be dropped off to the Tribhuvan International airport. On the way towards home, you will remember the wonderful time that you had throughout the Everest Three Pass Trek.
